Hey all, making gold seems like it has taken over parts of peoples WoW experience and has actually started to become a whole beast of its own. Some people purely play the game to try and make as much gold as possible, this can be extremely fun. It is not so fun however to attempt to make a lot of gold and fail in doing so, so let me give you a guide on how to make gold.
I am going to run through the simple way to make gold and then the more advanced technique for people looking to exploit the riches in the auction house for yourself.
A couple of recommended addons for creating a huge amount of gold are:
Postbox
The first addon allows you to collect all of your post from your mailbox, it then gives you a quick summary of how much your auctions just made for you, it is a great addon for quickly making gold.
Auctioneer
Auctioneer is a fantastic addon which allows you to get rough average prices of everything on the auction house, it starts off with some rough data and you need to continue scanning the AH to create a solid database of information for you to work on.
BackpackMod
(I don’t actually think this is the correct name…) This addon allows you to create amazing screens and groups for your back packs, it will allow you to drop materials in certain areas, splitting up the available slots into smaller slots, which effectively create lots of smaller bags rather than 5 large bags.
Note: This addon might not be usable in Cataclysm any more as I believe it was frowned upon because it created extra bag slots and reduced the size of the bags.
Ok with your Tools in hand lets have a look at the techniques, these are in a simplified version but will help a lot.
The Simple Technique
- Sell all your greens, or disenchant them and sell the materials.
- Grind for cloth, leather, ore and herbs then sell them.
- Run dungeons for some great gold.
The Advanced Technique
- This does require some patience and you need to be confident in your auctioneer data.
- Buy something like a stack of leather off the auction house for lower than the average price on your auctioneer addon.
- Sell this on higher than the average (preferably during a week day).
- Buy something more expensive with the profits that is cheaper than the average price of your auctioneer addon.
- Sell for more than the average price during a week day.
- Continue this strategy with more and more expensive items and more and more stacks of them.
